5 Postpartum Products I Actually Used After 3 Babies

As a San Antonio newborn photographer and having three babies in three years, I quickly learned something about the postpartum season:

There are so many things marketed to new moms that you think you need… and then there are the few simple things you reach for every single day.

The fourth trimester is a beautiful, stretching, emotional season. It’s not always easy — your body is healing, your hormones are changing, and you’re learning the rhythm of a brand-new little person. But even in the exhaustion, I’ve found those first few weeks to be some of the most sacred moments of motherhood.

The quiet newborn snuggles. The sleepy feedings. The tiny fingers wrapped around yours. The feeling of realizing, “I get to be this baby’s mom.”

After three postpartum experiences, I’ve learned to prepare differently. I stopped buying things because they were popular and started choosing products that truly supported me through recovery, healing, and bonding with my babies.

I spend so much time with new families during this tender season. I know firsthand how quickly these moments pass, and I want every new mom to feel supported as she steps into this beautiful (and sometimes overwhelming) chapter.

Here are five postpartum products I genuinely used and loved after welcoming my babies.

1. Rael Organic Cotton Underwear

Let’s talk about something nobody tells you enough about postpartum: comfort matters.

After my first baby, I bought into the idea that I needed the giant postpartum pads and the uncomfortable mesh underwear. While they serve a purpose, I quickly realized they weren’t something I wanted to keep reaching for.

The Rael Organic Cotton Underwear became one of those simple products I used constantly. They were comfortable, easy to wear, and made those early postpartum days feel just a little bit more normal.

Sometimes the best postpartum products aren’t the most complicated ones — they’re the things that help you feel like yourself again.

2. Motherlove Nipple Ointment

If you plan on breastfeeding, having a good nipple ointment nearby can make such a difference in those early days.

I loved having Motherlove Nipple Ointment on hand because it was something I could reach for whenever I needed extra comfort and support.

Those first weeks are full of learning — learning your baby’s cues, learning a new routine, and learning your own body again. Having small things nearby that make the transition easier is worth it.

3. Boon Trove Silicone Breast Pump

The Boon Trove quickly became one of my favorite postpartum tools.

I used it to collect milk during feedings and help build my freezer stash without needing to set aside extra pumping sessions. It also helped me manage fullness and avoid discomfort, which was especially important because I was mindful of preventing clogged ducts and mastitis.

With my third baby, I felt much more confident navigating breastfeeding because I knew what my body needed and had tools that actually supported me.

4. Iron Supplements

This one is especially personal for me.

I hemorrhaged during two of my deliveries, and postpartum recovery looked different because of that. After my third baby, I was much more intentional about supporting my body during those first weeks.

I used Hema-Plex and Nature’s Sunshine Chlorophyll daily, and I noticed a big difference compared to my previous postpartum experiences when I wasn’t as intentional about replenishing my body.

Birth is incredible, but it is also a huge physical experience. Taking care of yourself after delivery matters because your baby needs a healthy, supported mom too.

(As always, talk with your healthcare provider about what supplements are right for you and your specific needs.)

5. Earth Mama Perineal Spray

I honestly reached for this more than I reached for Tucks pads.

The postpartum healing process is no joke, and having something simple that provided comfort made those early days much easier.

I loved that the Earth Mama Perineal Spray was easy to use and something I could quickly grab during those frequent bathroom trips in the newborn stage.

Small comforts can make a big difference when your days are filled with healing, feeding, and caring for a tiny new baby.

The Postpartum Season Is Short, But It’s Sacred

After three babies, I can confidently say that the newborn stage is both challenging and incredibly beautiful.

The days can feel long, but the tiny moments disappear faster than you expect. The sleepy cuddles. The newborn stretches. The way they fit perfectly against your chest.

These are the moments I love preserving for families as a Boerne newborn photographer and San Antonio newborn photographer — because I know how quickly they become memories.

My hope is that these products help make your postpartum experience a little more comfortable, so you can spend less time worrying about the little things and more time soaking in the sweetness of your new baby.

You only get this newborn season once with each child. Let yourself be present for it.
